Inflation in the Eurozone increased slightly on a yearly basis in April, Eurostat said in a preliminary report on Tuesday. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew by 7% year-on-year in April, compared to a 6.9% annual inflation recorded in March, somewhat higher than forecast.
Month-over-month, the CPI rose by 0.7%, in line with expectations. The core CPI, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, was up by 5.6% on a yearly basis, compared to 5.7% in March. It added 1% month-on-month, down from the previous monthly reading of 1.3%.
