After announcing that the United States will "take over the Gaza Strip and do a job with it," President Donald Trump said that he envisions a "long-term ownership position," which he believes would bring "great stability to that part of the Middle East and maybe the entire Middle East."

"Everyone I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs," Trump added. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who joined Trump for the news conference, said that the US president sees "a different future" for Gaza and has a "different idea that's worth paying attention to."

"We're talking about it, he [Trump] is exploring it with his people, his staff. I think its something that could change history and its wortwhile really pursuing this avenue," Netanyahu stressed.
