Eurozone's unemployment rate unchanged at 6.4% in August

The unemployment rate in the Eurozone remained unchanged in August at 6.4% from July's revised figure, Eurostat shared in a report published on Monday. In the entire European Union, the figure came in at 5.9%. In August 2022, the figures stood at 6.7% and 6.1% respectively.

According to estimates, 12.837 million people were unemployed in the EU, 10.856 million of whom were in the Eurozone. That figure rose by 112,000 in the EU and 107,000 in the euro area month-on-month, and by 335,000 in the EU and 407,000 in the Eurozone year-on-year.

The youth unemployment rate was 14.0% in the EU, stable compared with July 2023, and 13.8% in the Eurozone, declining from 13.9 in the previous month.
