The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a temporary grounding of certain Boeing 737 Max 9 airplanes in the United States after an emergency landing prompted by a detached section of an Alaska Airlines plane's wall during a flight from Oregon to California.
The news comes after the airline voluntarily grounded its 737 Max 9 fleet to inspect the aircraft, finding no concerning issues.
"Safety will continue to drive our decision-making as we assist the NTSB's investigation into Alaska Airlines Flight 1282," FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker said.
