The future shipments of Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine have been halted after a factory mix-up led to a destruction of about 15 million doses of the inoculation, The New York Times reported citing federal officials.
The mistake, which was attributed to human error was made in a plant run by Emergent BioSolutions which is currently producing two vaccines against the virus. The wrong ingredients were reportedly accidentally mixed together several weeks ago, ruining the doses.
Washington officials have previously expressed concern about the company delivering on its promise to ship 20 million doses of its single-shot coronavirus jab on time, being that the current production process could meet logistical complications and regulatory delay.
