The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that it has noticed an "increase in reports of threats" against Jews, Arabs and Muslims in the United States and overseas amid the Israel-Hamas war.
"We take all potential threats seriously and are working closely with our law enforcement partners to determine their credibility, share information, and take appropriate investigative action," the FBI noted in a press release. "Countering terrorism remains the FBI’s number one priority, and we will not tolerate violence motivated by hate and extremism," it added.
Since the start of the latest conflict in the Middle East, multiple hate crimes have been reported in the US, including a fatal stabbing in Illinois, where a landlord killed a Muslim child and wounded his mother.
