FIFA announced on Monday that Russia has been expelled from the World Cup football competition due to the escalation of conflict in Ukraine.

"FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice," the statement noted.

The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place between November and December later this year.
