French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said Wednesday that France and the United States are working on a 21-day temporary ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel that would allow for broader negotiations.
"A diplomatic solution is indeed possible. In recent days, we've worked with our American partners on a temporary ceasefire platform of 21 days to allow for negotiations," Barrot told the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He added that the plan would be made public soon and that the US and France "are counting on both parties to accept it without delay."
Barrot said France and the US consulted with the sides on "final parameters for a diplomatic way out of this crisis," adding that even though this path proves to be "demanding" it's also "possible."
