France's inflation at 4.9% in September

The French Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 4.9% on an annual basis in September, the country's statistical office INSEE said in a preliminary report published on Friday. The figure stayed the same as the one recorded in August 2023.

According to the report, there will be a slowdown in the prices of food and services in September. This decline is expected to be influenced by transport services and accommodation services. The prices of energy and manufactured goods are expected to rise.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) on all items advanced by 5.6% year-on-year, a slight slowdown compared to August's figure of 5.7%.
