Inflation in Germany stood at 7.4% in March on a yearly basis, Destatis said in a preliminary release on Thursday. In February, annual inflation was at 8.7%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew by 0.8% in March month-on-month.

Food prices jumped 22.3% in March compared to the same month in 2022. The rise of energy prices "slowed considerably" to 3.5% after soaring 19.1% in February year-over-year. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HCIP) came to 7.8% annually and 1.1% compared to February.
