Producer prices in Germany decreased by 2.2% year-on-year in April, the country's statistical office Destatis reported on Friday. The index was 0.4% down in comparison to March.
Energy prices fell by 7.9% and 1.2% on a yearly and on a monthly basis, respectively, as petroleum products prices dropped 27.5%. Prices of intermediate goods declined 2.6% from April 2019. The overall producer prices index, excluding energy declined 0.3% in May compared to the same month last year and it was 0.2% lower month on month.
Prices of durable consumer goods were 1.5% higher year on year. Non-durable consumer goods' prices rose by 1.3% over the past 12 months, but slipped 1.1% in comparison to the previous month.
