Alphabet Inc.'s Google LLC announced on Thursday that the billing system in the Google Play service will soon be suspended in Russia as a result of "payment system disruption."
"This means users will not be able to purchase apps and games, make subscription payments or conduct any in-app purchases of digital goods using Google Play in Russia. Free apps will remain available on the Play Store," the company specified.
Yesterday, YouTube confirmed in a statement to Newsweek that monetization features for YouTube Premium, Channel Memberships, Super Chat, and Merchandise will be disabled for Russian users.
