Republican Senator Susan Collins stated on Wednesday that she will vote in favor of Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, becoming the first GOP lawmaker to support President Joe Biden's pick. Jackson is likely to have the votes of all 50 Democratic senators as well and is slated to become the first black woman on the Supreme Court.
"After reviewing Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's extensive record, watching much of her hearing testimony, and meeting with her twice in person, I have concluded that she possesses the experience, qualifications, and integrity to serve as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court. I will, therefore, vote to confirm her to this position," Collins said in a statement. It is unclear whether any other Republican senators will follow suit.
