Republican Mike Johnson (pictured) revealed in a social media post on Saturday that he is officially running for the vacant spot of the United States House speaker.
Johnson mentioned that in the face of the crisis in Gaza, threats from Russia and China, the national debt issue, violent crimes in the country, and other problems, the "House Republican majority must provide principled leadership."
The latest nominee pushed by the GOP members, representative from Ohio, Jim Jordan, failed to secure enough votes during the week after three tries.
