Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya confirmed on Friday that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar (pictured) was killed by the Israeli military. In a statement, he said Sinwar's death will "continue to fuel our struggle and steadfastness... until the aspirations of our people, our liberation is achieved."
Al-Hayya said Sinwar's death will not "bring the movement to its knees" but will instead make Hamas "more determined and more adamant." He insisted that Israeli hostages held in Gaza will not be released until the conflict between Israel and Hamas ends and Palestinian prisoners in Israel are released.
