HK activist Wong arrested for unlawful assembly

Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong (pictured) was arrested on charges of unlawful assembly, his lawyer revealed on Thursday.

According to his tweet, Wong was detained "for participating in an unauthorized assembly on 5Oct last year," but also for having "violated the draconian anti-mask law."

Wong was one of the 12 candidates banned from taking part in Hong Kong Legislative Council elections scheduled for September 6.
