Yemen's Houthi rebels arrested at least nine employees of the United Nations agencies across the four provinces that Houthi control, Amran, Hodeida, Saada and Saana, the Associated Press reported on Friday, citing anonymous regional officials.
According to the report, the rebel group detained workers from the United Nations human rights agency, the World Food Programme, and one employee of the office of the UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg. In the meantime, reports emerged that employees of other aid organizations have also been detained in Yemen.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels have been continuously attacking vessels in the Red Sea since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza as a sign of support to the Palestinian people.
