United States Department of Commerce placed Chinese company Huawei, along with its 70 affiliates, on a trade blacklist.
According to the statement from the Commerce Department, the US has the basis to believe that "Huawei is engaged in activities that are contrary to US national security." The US intelligence agencies previously accused the Chinese tech giant of spying on behalf of the Chinese government.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in order to protect US information and communications technology and services from foreign espionage.
