International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi revealed on Friday that the IAEA is actively consulting with all sides involved in the conflict threatening the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).
He added that the agency is discussing sending a mission to promptly "carry out essential safety, security and safeguards activities at the site." Grossi "welcomed" the support the potential mission received from both Russia and Ukraine.
"There is an urgent need to lower the tension and take the necessary steps to help ensure nuclear safety and security and prevent any radiological consequences for the population and the environment. The IAEA can play an indispensable role in this regard," Grossi underlined.
