The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) halted inbound flights from the Northeast, Ohio and Mid-Atlantic into New York's LaGuardia Airport on Thursday due to low visibility. Hundreds of flights were canceled yesterday as smoke from wildfires in Canada spread across the northeast of the United States.

The FAA said it will likely need to take steps to manage the flow of traffic safely into New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Charlotte.
