Consumer prices in the United Kingdom went up by 10.1% on an annual level in September, matching the record set in July and coming in slightly higher than analysts projected, the Office for National Statistics stated in its report published on Wednesday.
According to the document, the largest contribution to the rise in inflation came from food and non-alcoholic beverages. Upward movements were also noted in hotel overnight stays, furniture, and household goods.
On a monthly level, consumer prices increased by 0.5%. The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) grew by 8.8% on an annual basis and 8.6% on the monthly one.
