The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed on Monday evening that seven members belonging to the armed forces had been killed in the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
Namely, two top generals of the Iranian armed forces, Quds Force commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his deputy Mohammad-Hadi Haji-Rahim have died as a result of the attack, along with five other officers, the IRGC said in the statement, accusing Israel of carrying out the attack.
Iran's ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari previously warned of retaliation for the deadly attack, sharing that the consulate was targeted by F-35 fighter jets. However, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have not yet claimed responsibility for the reported missile strike.
