Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) successfully launched a military satellite into orbit on Tuesday, according to the IRNA news agency.
"Iran's second military satellite, named Noor-2, has been launched into space by the Qassed rocket of the aerospace wing of the Revolutionary Guards and successfully placed in orbit 500 kilometers (310 miles) above the Earth," the agency said.
The launch comes as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) negotiations in Vienna entered their final stage and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani returned to Tehran for consultations on the return to the Iran nuclear deal.
