Iran stresses need for new solutions vs. US sanctions

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi argued on Friday that new solutions are needed to oppose the United States sanctions and unilateralism.

"The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) needs to adopt new solutions and take specific measures to counter draconian US sanctions and its unilateralism, such as sustainable trade among its member states," Raisi said during the summit in Uzbekistan.

Iran yesterday formally applied to join the SCO, a political, economic and security bloc gathering several Asian countries, including Russia, China and India.
