Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara (pictured) slammed on Friday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to fire Shin Bet's Director Ronen Bar. She accused Netanyahu of a conflict of interest since the intelligence agency is investigating his advisers for alleged payments by the Qatari government.
Baharav-Miara argued in a letter to the court examining Bar's firing that Netanyahu's decision will "undermine the ability of future Shin Bet chiefs to act independently," warning that the consequences for the agency "go far beyond the interests of the current Shin Bet chief."
