Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have agreed to have the next round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev over the conflict in Ukraine in Istanbul, the latter's office confirmed on Sunday.
The details of the meeting were agreed on in a phone call between the two presidents, during which they discussed the situation in Ukraine, the office said. It added Erdogan stressed the need for a ceasefire and a peaceful solution to the crisis.
Earlier in the day, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations both said they have agreed to meet and negotiate in person. Ukraine said the talks would take place in Turkey and start on March 28, while Russia said they will be held between March 29 and 30.
