The 7.5-magnitude earthquake reported yesterday in Japan resulted in 30 deaths in Ishikawa Prefecture, NHK News reported on Tuesday. Additionally, there have been 14 reported injuries in the prefectures of Ishikawa, Niigata, Fukui, Toyama, and Gifu.
According to reports from the media, Wajima City has witnessed the collapse of 25 buildings, which include residential houses, and there are concerns that 14 people may be trapped inside. Firefighters are currently making efforts to rescue those who are trapped. The earthquake has been classified as an upper 6 on the Japanese seismic scale, resulting in most roads being impassable.
Earlier, after the inspection of the areas affected by the quake, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed concerns about the extensive damage. Russia and South Korea issued tsunami warnings after the seism.
