Consumer prices in Japan rose by 3.7% in October, compared to the corresponding month the year prior, coming in at slightly above analysts' projections to stand at 102.7, while the figure went up by 0.6 percentage points on a monthly basis, the country's Statistic Bureau revealed in its report.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) excluding fresh food and energy increased by 2.5% compared to the same period the year before. The monthly change was set at 0.7 percentage points. In addition, the same index excluding only fresh food gained 3.7% on a yearly basis, marking the highest figure since February 1982.
Previously, the Bank of Japan announced it will keep its monetary policy unchanged, maintaining the short-term interest rate target at a negative 0.1% amid economic uncertainty.
