Japan's GDP grows 0.8% in Q2

Japan's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.8% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, the Cabinet Office announced in its revised preliminary report on Thursday.

Annualized GDP rose by 3.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, beating estimates by a wide margin.

Private consumption increased by 1.0% compared to the last quarter, the first in five quarters, and capital expenditure was also up by 0.9%.
