The annual inflation in Japan came in at 2.8% in May, higher than the inflation registered in April which stood at 2.5%, deviating slightly from analyst expectations, according to a report released by the Statistics Bureau of Japan on Friday.
The headline index stood at 108.1, while the data for the month of May showed that consumer prices excluding fresh food and energy lowered from last month's figure of 2.4% to 2.1% year-on-year, while the same index excluding only fresh food increased to 2.5% on a yearly basis.
