Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz (pictured) said in an interview with local TV station Channel 12 that if Israel and Hamas were to agree on the exchange of hostages, Israel would cease its intentions of launching a military intervention in Rafah.
"The release of the hostages is the top priority for us," Katz added. "If there will be a deal, we will suspend the operation."
Katz's comments follow the release of a video by Hamas showing two Israeli captives requesting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu negotiate with the group to exchange Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
