United States National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby (pictured) emphasized on Monday that his country maintains the belief that it is still "possible" for relations to be normalized between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
When asked about a report from the Wall Street Journal regarding a potential agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia to normalize relations with Israel in exchange for concessions to the Palestinians, Kirby stated that the Biden administration continues to hold the view that "normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel is possible."
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-saud stated yesterday that the establishment of a Palestinian state is a prerequisite for normalizing relations with Israel. On his part, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen further added that these relations will only be normalized following Israel's "overwhelming victory" against Hamas.
