Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone shared on Monday at a press conference that officials are "absolutely better prepared" for the strong winds forecast for the coming days.
"We're very well prepared for the next event, but we're never sure that we're going to catch the next fire and keep it small," he remarked, calling on all the residents in "brush-prone areas" to be ready to evacuate if an alert is sent and to carry out all the preparations beforehand.
"We know from experience that if you wait for the order, you might get caught up in the congestion," Marrone warned. Meanwhile, United States Department of Defense (DoD) press secretary Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder revealed that over 16,000 gallons of fire suppressant were dropped over the wildfires by US military jets during the weekend.
