Lebanon's Health Ministry said on Sunday that the death toll from an Israeli airstrike on the capital city of Beirut, targeting Hezbollah top commanders, rose to 45.
The day before, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that it eliminated 16 Hezbollah fighters in Friday's strike on Beirut, including senior commanders of the militant group's special operations unit Radwan Force.
Hezbollah confirmed that one of its top commanders, Ibrahim Aqil, was killed in the attack. Aqil was wanted in the United States and a $7 million reward was being offered for information about him for being responsible for the bombings of the US embassy in Beirut in April 1983, which killed 63 people, and the US Marine barracks in October 1983, which left 241 US personnel dead.
