Li: Trying to control China with Taiwan will fail

Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu warned on Wednesday against "playing with fire" regarding the Taiwan crisis. He said that "trying to control China with Taiwan is bound to end in failure" following Taiwan Vice President William Lai's visit to the United States.

Li is currently on a six-day trip to Russia and Belarus, including a speech at the Moscow Conference on International Security. Li said that relations between China and Russia are "entering a new era" and stressed that they are not aimed at any third country.
