Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko won the country's presidential election on Sunday with 87.6% of the ballot, according to the official exit poll. He has secured his seventh term in office, having been in power since 1994.
The exit poll showed Sergey Syrankov was Lukashenko's closest rival, winning 2.7% of the votes, followed by Oleg Gaidukevich at 1.8%, Anna Kanopatskaya at 1.6% and Aleksandr Khizhnyak at 1.2%. The election was condemned as a "sham" by the United States and the European Union.
