Macron, Abbas talk Gaza 'framework for day after'

French President Emmanuel Macron and Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas talked on Monday about "the framework for the day after" regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Macron said on X that having a plan is of the utmost importance, as well as disarming Hamas, establishing credible governance, and reinstating the Palestinian Authority. He sees this as secure progress towards a two-state solution, one "in the service of peace and security."

His statement follows the announcement of the European Commission regarding a multiannual program for Palestinian recovery worth €1.6 billion.
