In response, President Xi reiterated China's commitment to prioritizing Europe in its foreign policy agenda, viewing the relationship with Europe through a strategic and long-term lens.
For her part, von der Leyen mentioned that "China and the EU have a shared interest in peace and security" while underscoring the importance of the "effective functioning of the rules-based international order."
