AP Moller-Maersk A/S will once again halt transit operations through the Red Sea, this time for 48 hours after one of its merchant vessels was targeted two times within 24 hours by Houthi rebels based in Yemen, Danish News Agency Ritzau reported on Sunday.
The Maersk Hangzhou container ship was reportedly hit by a missile on Saturday while passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait. It was then faced with an attack from four Houthi ships attempting to board it earlier in the day. As a result, Maersk has decided to "delay all transits through the area for the next 48 hours."
Earlier, the United States Central Command took action against Houthi boats after receiving a second distress message from the ship.
