United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Tuesday that a bipartisan deal has been reached on the US federal debt ceiling.

"I believe we've reached here a solution to the debt ceiling issue that's consistent with Republican views of raising the debt ceiling for this amount at this particular time and allows the Democrats to proudly own it," the Republican said to the press.

The vote on the bill that would allow the Democrats to pass the hike with a simple majority will take place on Thursday, he noted.
