United States Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin dismissed on Monday reports about China-specific investment restrictions that emerged in the media earlier.

"On behalf of @realDonaldTrump, the stories on investment restrictions in Bloomberg & WSJ are false, fake news. The leaker either doesn’t exist or know the subject very well. Statement will be out not specific to China, but to all countries that are trying to steal our technology," Mnuchin tweeted.

US media reported President Donald Trump was set to announce measures cracking down on Chinese investment in the country in a move that was expected to intensify the ongoing trade row between Washington and Beijing.
