European Union's Economics Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici stated on Wednesday that French and Italian budget deficits will get "the same" treatment from the bloc despite an earlier report that stated that France won't get favorable treatment like Italy, according to AFP.

France and Italy are now both in the spotlight regarding its budgets after Paris protests that led the French President Emmanuel Macron announced the government decided to abandon the fuel price hikes, causing concerns over the state of the country's budget.

Moscovici stated on Tuesday that the EU will "closely monitor" the French deficit following Macron's announcement. Meanwhile, European Commission spokeswoman said earlier that the European Union's governing body will not have access to the French budget until the spring.
