Twitter Inc. owner and CEO Elon Musk revealed on Tuesday that Twitter Blue monthly subscription will cost $8 and that it will be "price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity." In a series of tweets, Musk slammed "Twitter's current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn't have a blue checkmark."
In return for an $8 subscription, users will receive "priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam," along with "ability to post long video & audio" while encountering "half as many ads" on the platform, according to Musk, who added there will be a "paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us."
"This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators," the company's chief executive added shortly thereafter.
