Billionaire Elon Musk decided to voluntarily drop the lawsuit against OpenAI and two of its co-founders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, a filing in California state court showed on Tuesday.
The filing did not provide any details on why Musk made such a decision. The lawsuit was originally filed in March for breach of contract and fiduciary duty. Back then, the billionaire claimed that although OpenAI's main goal was developing artificial intelligence "for the benefit of humanity," the company strayed from the path and turned to profit-making.
A hearing was supposed to take place tomorrow, June 12, where a San Francisco judge would decide whether to dismiss the case or not.
