Nasdaq nosedives 3.6% at close as tech earnings disappoint

EPA-EFE/JUSTIN LANE

Major stock exchanges on Wall Street flopped at the close on Wednesday with the Nasdaq 100 leading losses, as the latest tech earnings reports seemingly upset investors. Neither Alphabet nor Tesla managed to lift trader mood.

In politics, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United States Congress earlier today, stressing that Israel and the US "must stand together." Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden is set to deliver a speech on why he withdrew from the 2024 presidential race at 8 pm ET.

The Nasdaq 100 slumped 3.65% or 721 points at the close, with Tesla tumbling 12.33%. Simultaneously, the Dow Jones dropped 1.25% or 504 points with Visa down 4.01%. The S&P 500 plummeted 2.32% at the closing bell, as Lamb Weston plunged 28.24%.

The euro traded 0.13% below the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, going for 1.08393.
