NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte (pictured) said in a call with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Monday that NATO is ready to work "closely" with South Korea in light of the growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Rutte said that North Korea sending troops to fight alongside Russia in Ukraine would mark a "significant escalation" of the war.
Meanwhile, Yoon warned closer military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang "threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world." He said South Korea will send a delegation to NATO to share information with the alliance and "take measures to vitalize security cooperation among South Korea, Ukraine, and NATO."
