The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leaders agreed during the Washington summit on Wednesday to provide at least €40 billion in military support for Ukraine over the next year.

"We affirm our determination to support Ukraine in building a force capable of defeating Russian aggression today and deterring it in the future," the alliance said in the statement, reaffirming that Kiev's future lies within NATO. The alliance also praised Ukraine's advancements in democratic, economic, and security reforms crucial for its NATO integration, emphasizing that a formal invitation will follow upon consensus among allies and fulfillment of all requirements.

The new package is expected to cover the costs of the provision of military equipment, assistance, and training for Ukraine.
