Netanyahu says attack from Gaza not just escalation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday said it is not enough to call the attacks against Israel from Gaza an operation or an escalation of its conflict with Palestine.

He described Hamas launching a surprise attack as "war" and assured the public that the government was carrying out an operation to get the enemy off of Israeli territory.

"I convened the heads of the security system, first of all, I instructed them to cleanse the settlements of the terrorists who had infiltrated," the prime minister stated. "This operation is being carried out," he added. Netanyahu went on to echo the advice the public was given by the defense ministry who called on all citizens of Israel to strictly adhere to the instructions provided by the Home Command.
