Nord Stream AG halted gas deliveries through the key gas pipeline from Russia to Europe on Monday at 7:00 am local time for maintenance work, including testing of mechanical components and automation systems, according to a company spokesman.
Speaking to German Press Agency, the spokesman revealed the work is expected to last until July 21, adding that no gas will be transferred through the pipeline to Germany during these ten days, with the flow of gas expected to completely stop in the coming hours.
Earlier, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck triggered phase two of the emergency gas plan, fearing that Russia would completely cut gas supplies ahead of the winter season during maintenance.
