North Korean United Nations representative said that the claim by Seoul's spy agency that North Korea sent troops to Russia to help in the conflict with Ukraine was a "groundless rumor."
"As for the so-called military cooperation with Russia, my delegation does not feel any need for comment on such groundless stereotyped rumors," a North Korean representative stated during a meeting at the UN General Assembly.
South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) reportedly revealed last Friday that North Korea decided to provide Russia with 12,000 of its troops selected from four ground brigades, including special forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also claimed a day earlier that his country has information about 10,000 North Korean specialists who were being prepared to help Russia. The United States did not confirm the rumor, but White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said his country is monitoring the reports.
